Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy - Cyst

Symptoms

A 49 year old woman presented with increasing heavy menstrual bleeding and associated pain.

Diagnosis

18 months prior to this she had had her left ovary laparoscopically removed because of a borderline serous cystadenoma cyst.

Procedure

The recommendation is to remove the right ovary and uterus once there are no further plans for a pregnancy. She subsequently underwent Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and removal of right adnexa.

Outcome

She made an excellent recovery. She commenced oestrogen gel to control menopausal symptoms post operatively.

The uterus and right ovary, right tube.

The bladder is carefully reflected out of the surgical field.

The right uterine artery is divided.

 

The left uterine artery is divided.

The vault has been closed laparoscopically.
