Myomectomy - Fibroid

Symptoms

A 49 year old woman presented with one episode of severe right sided pelvic pain.

Diagnosis

Pelvic ultrasound and Pelvic MRI revealed a solid mass near the right ovary - 56mm in diameter. Laparoscopy revealed a right sided pedunculated fibroid. This means it was attached to the uterus via small pedicle.

Procedure

A myomectomy (removal of fibroid) was performed.

Outcome

She made an excellent recovery.

The fibroid is just behind the right ovary.

The fibroid is carefully dissected out and mobilised.
