Endometriosis with Oral Contraceptives

Dysmenorrhoea - Dyspareunia

Symptoms

A 38 year old woman presented with dysmenorrhoea and dyspareunia (pain during intercourse).

Diagnosis

She recalled significant pelvic pain prior to commencing the OCP at 18 years. The pain was controlled until she discontinued the OCP.

Procedure

Laparoscopy revealed endometriosis on the left pelvic side wall. This was excised.

Outcome

The pain resolved.
